Obituary for Charles Alva Teems

Charles Alva Teems
Charles Alva Teems
March 19, 1942 - February 26, 2017

Charles Alva Teems, 74 has fought the good fight and has finished his course and kept the faith and has earned his crown of righteousness on February 26, 2017 at his home in the Raimund Heights Community, which was his Grandmother, the late Florence Hall's old home place, where his mother, Adine Hall Teems was born and died in the front bedroom, a home place, full of wonderful memories. He was born March 19, 1942 in Jefferson County to Robert and Adine Teems. Charles was an active member and an inactive deacon of Raimund Heights Bapt. Church in the same home community where he went to elementary school. He graduated from McAdory High School 1960.

After marrying the love of his life, Estelle Stamps, in 1960, he worked at Pullman Standard and retired from US Steel in 1994.

Charles was a "Jack of All Trades". He was on the verge of getting his pilot's license when he had a cardiac arrest Dec. 15, 1994. He's been a pipe fitter, a welder, an electrician, a carpenter, a roofer, a mechanic of any type of engine or motor and an avid Ham Radio Operator (LJE - Let's Just Eat) and CB Handler (Handle Shopman). He was a Pas Master of Flint Hill Masonic Lodge and received his 50th year pin in 2015.

When he wasn't working or at church he loved camping. He owned an old wooden Chris-Craft with a '57 Chevy engine and taught and pulled numerous skiers. He also loved bass fishing and fished many water ways in several states in his Bullet (his racing bass boat). He was an excellent photographer and enjoyed taking beautiful pictures. He was and Estelle still is an avid Alabama Football Fan. In their yard is a painted rock that says: "An ole Bear and an Nick's Chick, live here." When football season arrived, you could always feel welcomed and join them watch Alabama play football. RTR!!!

He loved spending time with his family and is survived by his spouse of 56 years, Estelle of Bessemer, Alabama, his son Chris Teems (Charlene) of McCalla and his daughter Lecretia Curren (Kenny) of Bessemer. Grandchildren, Carmen Brinks (William), Coy Teems, Jordan Treuchet (Taylor) and Lauren Curren, and Great-grand children, Tucker and Charlsie Brinks and McKenna Treuchet.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Adine Teems. Pallbearers are Terry Haynes, Rex Parker, Rodgie Parker, James Johnston, Cliff Collins and Larry Haynes, all active Deacons of Raimund Heights Bapt. Church.

The funeral service is March 1, 2017 at Valhalla, officiated by Bro. Tommy Chesser, his much loved Pastor. Visitation will be held March 1 from 11:30-1:30. The family will be greeting friends and relatives at that time with funeral services being held at 1:30
and grave-side immediately following at Valhalla.

Charles's life spoke his sermon and was an example of true Christianity and he will be greatly missed by a host of friends and family.
