Louie Monroe  Sanders Jr.
Louis Monroe Sanders, Jr., passed away May 31, 2017 at the age of 86.

Louis was born in Birmingham, AL on October 4, 1930 and grew up in Gate City. He attended Woodlawn High School. He was a veteran of the Korean War where he served in the United States Army. Louie also served as a Mountain Brook Firefighter for a number of years.

Louie loved his family and his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was a faithful follower of Christ by serving as a Deacon in the Baptist Church. He drove the church vans, and took care of the people in need in his community. He was a true messenger for Christ.

Louie was preceded in death by his precious wife Peggy Joy Sanders of 56 years.

He is survived by his two sons Mike Sanders and Patrick Sanders, Sr.; a sister, Mary Grogan; grandchildren; Holli McClain (Robert), Patrick Sanders, Jr. (Shauna); Nicholas Sanders, and LeeAnna Jones (Bobby); great grandchildren; Madison, Cole and Natalie McClain, Taylynn Sanders, Kalee, Bradley, and Jackson Sanders, Kenslee and Luke Jones.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Valhalla Cemetery with Dr. Parker officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at Valhalla Funeral Home.
